Simply apply a non-stick coating to the mat using HattieS™ No Stick™ or a QuikArt Pen. Roll clay to desired thickness. Lay clay on top of texture stamp and gently press clay into the texture mat with your fingers. Then use roller with even pressure over the clay to make an even impression. Gently peel clay from stamp and trim around perimeter of clay with a needle tool or blade. For metal clay, create your piece and then dry the clay. Refine and file the edges. Fire and finish as usual.

For polymer clay, create your piece and fire as usual. After firing, refine and file the edges as needed.

HOW HATTIE CREATED THESE GORGEOUS PIECES:

Reversible Pendant:
First, Hattie textured a 2.5” (63 m) length of silver clay. The textured slab was trimmed and folded over a straw to create the bail. The dome was created by forming clay textured with the largest circle/hand texture over a dome shape and allowed to dry. The bail and dome were joined with metal clay ball shapes and thick slip. Embellishments using parts of the same texture mat were added to the dome on the back side of the pendant to make it reversible.

Ring:
First, Hattie textured a silver clay slab using the long center design on the texture mat. The ring was formed on a mandrel 2 USA sizes larger than the desired finished size. Chubby coils and large balls of metal clay were added as embellishments. The ring was fired with a HattieS Pattie® in the finished size to assure accurate sizing.
